1. TAKE A TRIP TO HAITI
Second Mile's Group Donor Trip is designed to impact you, your friends, family, church group, co-workers, our organization, and the local economy of Haiti. We provide you with the opportunity to experience Haiti and the wonderful Haitian culture while helping Second Mile serve the people of Haiti. Well-intentioned travelers often don’t consider Haiti as a tourist destination because of the island’s recent history of catastrophe, but the earthquake and its aftermath are actually reasons to embrace Haiti as a beautiful and exotic vacation spot. Samuel Dameus, Spokesman for Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism says, "You can help Haiti by helping us build the tourism sector. 6. volunteer
On most occasions, we do not have a need for international volunteers. We prefer to use local contractors and laborers who live and work to make a living right in our own neighborhood (see Our Approach). Occasionally we take "trainers for the trainers". That is, people who specialize in an area pertinent to our work, like lactation consultants, etc. If you would like to offer your expertise in one of these areas we'd love to talk to you!
